Westerns have never been a genre of movies that has inspired or interested me. Marcus recommended this film to me, and I was pleasantly surprised. I have caught a small glimpse of what Leone such a classic director. It says a lot when you can turn Henry Fonda into a child killer……I said too much. Although the movie stretches an epic 2.5 hrs, I tried to find places where Leone could have cut some of the time. But all the scenes carried along each other to build the tension between the characters (theme music included) and ultimately to the final shootout. Leone’s artistic view such as his close up shots of Fonda & Bronson are a few ways that I . The opening scene is an ultimate example of the film’s ability to set a mood and create a build up for whats to come.
My only complaint: Bronson’s horrible fake harmonica playing.
